About Willoughby Hills, OH - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Willoughby Hills, Ohio was first settled in the late in 1700’s. It is settled across the Chagrin River which gave it its original name- Chagrin Township. In 1834, the name was changed to Willoughby Hills in honor of local doctor, Dr. Westal Willoughby. The township grew and changed as people migrated to the area from nearby Cleveland, however it remained a village noted for its beautiful weather and lovely scenery around the Chagrin River and Lake Erie.
Because Willoughby Hills is such a desirable location for those in the Midwest, it has attracted many interesting figures throughout history. Among the most notable attractions is the Frank Lloyd Wright Louis Penfield House, an example of the famous architect’s unique style that can be rented out for personal use.
Another example of unique architecture is Squire’s Castle. This building was originally a carriage house for a notable oil baron, however the full estate was never completed. Today, the property is a historical site and used to host seminars. The grounds host many walking trails and riding trails, and many suggest that the house is haunted.
The northeast Ohio climate and soils are plentiful which allows for many of the cities and towns to maintain beautiful gardens, arboretums, and farms. Those near Willoughby Hills often visit the Patterson Fruit Farm. This local farm has a popular farmer’s market, offers visitors a chance to pick strawberries in the warm summer months, and apples in the autumn. Also available at the site are hay rides and festivals throughout the year to celebrate the harvest.
Airport Greens Golf Course is a popular choice for those near Willoughby Hills looking for a little relaxation on the greens, and is most noted for its beautiful setting.
